Beauty in the Beholder - Fate Is Written In The Stars

fate is written in the stars

Beauty in the Beholder means that the perception of beauty is subjective and varies from person to person. What one individual finds beautiful or attractive, another may not. It emphasizes that beauty is a matter of personal preference and perspective, and there is no universally objective standard for beauty.

Our physical traits impact how other people perceive us, which affects how we feel and see ourselves, and so on.

Psychologists believe there’s a relationship between internals and externals that shapes us. Is it possible that our fate is written in the stars? Are our personalities shaped at birth, your beauty? Or, is it all just a false comfort to give us hope that life isn't just completely random? In this week's blog, we will explore the different ideologies for predicting our fate.

Astrology

Who hasn’t read their horoscope in the newspaper before? Most of us are familiar with astrology, at least on a basic level. It’s believed that roughly 30% of North American consults their horoscopes on a daily basis. Our Astrological sign tells us a few generalized characteristics based on our birthday. Do our horoscopes really predict our personalities and fate? Or do they simply influence our personalities the more we study them?

Fate is written in the stars Astrology

Astrology studies the heavenly bodies to get scientific readings. Although there is no concrete evidence that horoscopes predict our futures, pseudoscience is still very powerful. One can argue that horoscopes are generalized to fit the masses. It’s easy to pick out bits of information that are relevant to you when you are actively seeking it.

However, when you dig a little bit deeper into the science of Astrology, you may discover some pretty accurate findings. Most people know their sun sign. But, when you start to understand your moon sign, ascending house, ruling planets, and so on… that’s when you start getting a more accurate reading. This is known as your birth or natal chart. Your birth chart is essentially a map of the planets (from our perspective on earth) at the exact time and place you were born. This will give you a whole lot of information that explains your emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and impulses. It can even predict the best times to make big changes and moves.

The Name Game

“Our given name is our very first social tagging”

Social scientists believe that names produce a Dorian Gray effect, influencing personality, our fate, how we’re perceived, and even physical appearance.

A study was published on the names given at birth and the looks and characteristics associated with each person later in life. The study hypothesized that your name shares characteristics with those who bear the same name similarly, so much so that other people can match a name to face based on past knowledge. In other words, name stereotypes manifest physically in facial appearance.

This assumes shared social coding. If you grow up on the other side of the world from someone with a unique culture, the chances you two will be alike are slimmer. Yet, to a statistically significant degree, people and even machines could match faces to culturally common names of strangers in photos. Given that they were from the same social environments. Because we have shared ideas of what names connote our cultures. People may also grow into their names by adapting expected behavior, facial expressions, and looks.

When everything’s said and done, we don’t really need any scientific studies to prove the importance of names. When we see or hear a name, we instantly start making presumptions about that person even though we’ve never met or talked with them before. It’s just human nature after all.

Numerology

Fate is Written in the Stars, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Pythagoras and early mathematicians commonly practiced numerological divination, they believed it could predict events and give insight into a person’s life path. Modern-day science no longer identifies numerology as a practical mathematical study. However, many believe it offers an incredible understanding of our personalities.

Numerology is still closely followed in the East. For example, people in China will try to have their child on a birthday with the number 8, since 8 represents luck and power. Numerologists believe an individual's month, year, and day of birth are linked to your personality, compatibility with others, career paths, and overall life fate.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

This personality-related test was developed in the 1940s and continues to be extremely relevant today.

Fate is written in the stars, beauty in the beholder

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test, typically based on psychological attributes, and is used to determine differing strengths and types of personalities. The questionnaire’s battery of tests can provide insight into the subject’s perception, decision-making, leadership skills, and other attributes that may contribute to personal or professional success.

Myers-Briggs tests borrow from psychologist Carl Jung’s theory of dominant psychological functions: sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking. The theory suggests that these functions color how we approach solving problems and interacting with others. Despite its origin in psychological theory, MBTI is traditionally used in business settings and continues to be used by organizations across the globe.

Human Design System

The Human Design System can show you how you make decisions and choices in your life. It is a way of allowing your body's intelligence to guide you. The mind is always influenced by outside sources that aren’t always true to your authentic self. It can show you how to live as yourself and show you your fate.

Fate is written in the stars

Human Design uses your birth time and place to calculate your chart. In this calculation, the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the time of your birth play an important role. This is based on the science of Neutrinos, extremely small particles that make up a large amount of the world. It’s believed that when you were born, the neutrinos passing through your body at that exact moment left an imprint of information that shapes your existence today. Similar to your Birth Chart in Astrology, but this gets so much more in-depth.

Human Design is a science of self-discovery. It lets you gain enormous insights into your unique nature: your health, personality, vulnerabilities, and limitations as well as your talents, strengths, and beauty It is essentially a road map of your past, present, and future. The Human Design system is extremely hard, to sum up so easily, the amount of information is endless and can seem a little daunting at times. Some people recommend having a professional help you understand your chart.
