Fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients and antioxidants, which can help protect your body from disease. They also contain fiber, which can help keep you feeling full and satisfied after eating. Try to include a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet each day.

2. Avoid processed foods.

Processed foods are high in unhealthy fats, sugars, and chemicals. They provide very few nutrients and can harm your health over time.

3. Incorporate lean protein into your meals.

Foods like beef, chicken, turkey, fish, and eggs are packed with protein which can help you feel more satisfied after eating.

4. Limit foods high in added sugars.

Additive uses can up pregnant body fat and lead to obesity and diabetes over time. They also sap vital nutrients from the body, while providing very few benefits for your health. Be sure to limit how much-added sugar you eat each day. Foods that are naturally high in sugar—such as fruits—are healthier choices than foods that have been processed to include large amounts of sugar, such as candy and baked goods.

5. Eat complete grains.

Complete grains like quinoa, brown rice, and oatmeal contain high amounts of fiber that can promote healthy digestion and keep you feeling full for longer after eating.

6. Limit your alcohol consumption.

Alcohol is packed with empty calories that can contribute to weight gain over time if consumed in excess. It's also very high in sugar just like soda pop, fruit juice, energy drinks, etc., so try to limit how much alcohol you drink each day or week as well as the amount of these other sugary drinks you consume as well.

7. Reduce caffeine consumption.

Coffee contains stimulants that can affect your nervous system and lead to negative side effects, particularly when consumed in excess. Try to limit how much caffeine you consume each day by staying away from coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc., that contain large amounts of the substance.

8. Drink more water.

Drinking enough water is important for health because it helps promote healthy digestion, keeps skin hydrated and glowing, supports muscle function, and it even helps keep your appetite under control. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of pure water every day for the best results.

9. Don't skip breakfast.

Skipping breakfast can make you more likely to indulge later in the day and can also lead to weight gain over time. Healthy eating habits for breakfast should include plenty of protein and fiber to help you feel full and satisfied until lunchtime.

A healthy diet and skincare routine!

It’s a universal truth that times are different. Some of our daily routines might still look the same, but there are a few things that have changed drastically for some, including our overall health. Do you know the phrase “you are what you eat”? It’s mostly true. Our skin, hair, body, and mental health will look and feel the equivalent way of how you treat it, not only what you feed it. It’s understandable for us to have neglected ourselves a bit during the highly stressful time of COVID-19, so today I’m going to share some tips to get yourself back to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, healthy eating habits, and therefore glowing, nurtured looking skin.

Get a good amount of sleep

You’d think that if most people were working, schooling from home, or staying inside more often, getting the right amount of sleep would come easy. This isn’t always true. It’s incredibly important for a person to get between 7-9 hours of sleep, or you’ll soon be saying hello to those dark circles under your eyes and just a generally tired-looking complexion.

For your body to feel rested and your skin to look healthy eating habits, always make sure you try to get a decent amount of sleep. Try disconnecting from any electronics a half hour before bed, and doing some breathing exercises as you close your eyes for the night is always quite beneficial, especially if you have difficulty falling asleep.

Give your hands some extra attention

Hand sanitizers have (understandably) become more popular than ever. With this, however, comes the challenge of how to tackle cracking, painful, and dry hands. After all, the alcohol in hand sanitizers kills germs but not without the consequence of drying your skin out.

Your hands are also probably one of the areas you expose the most out in the cold if you don’t wear gloves. So make sure you wear gloves! Carry a travel-sized bottle of hand cream with you and use it frequently. Moisturize your hands even if they don’t look dry or aren’t cracking. Try to avoid washing them under hot water, use lukewarm instead. Your hands and the skin on them will thank you!

“You are what you eat”

As mentioned above, one of the most important things to keep your body healthy and your skin glowing is maintaining a correct and balanced diet. Eating whole foods such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables will make you look and feel better. Water-rich foods such as cucumber, spinach, oranges, and apples are essential for making your skin look its absolute best. Of course, treating yourself to fast food or anything similar every once in a while isn’t the end of the world. Ultimately, though, you want to keep your diet as healthy as possible so you can reap the rewards.

Stay. Active.

This is probably one of the hardest things to do nowadays, especially if you love the gym as much as some people out there do. Although many gyms and fitness facilities around the world have reopened and implemented health and safety measures, a lot of people might still not feel safe enough to go back. But staying active and doing exercise is crucial to maintaining healthy eating habits and to looking and feeling your best.

If you can’t -or prefer not to join a gym or some sort of fitness class, try doing your workouts at home (the internet is great for finding these.) Otherwise, doing some stretching during your breaks or yoga before bed will make a difference as long as you’re outing to keep yourself and your body moving.

Remember to maintain a healthy diet and skincare routine this return from the pandemic.
